We make books that take babies seriously.

Babies are not waiting to become learners. From birth, they are building language, knowledge, and an understanding of the world through everything they see, hear, and experience- yet many books offer them far less than they are capable of learning.

Brilliance of Babies creates nonfiction board books filled with real photographs, rich vocabulary, meaningful concepts, and Grown-Up Guides that help adults know what to notice, name, and talk about. Our books are designed to grow with children from infancy through toddlerhood, making everyday reading richer without making it more complicated.

We are also a purpose-driven company. Ten percent of proceeds is given back through book donations to organizations serving young children and families because every child deserves books that recognize their brilliance and help it grow.

Meet the founder

Created by a literacy specialist and mom who couldn’t find these books for her own baby

I’m Salley Edwards, a mother of three and an educator with more than 25 years of experience supporting young children, families, teachers, and literacy leaders.

When my youngest child was born, I searched for board books that reflected what I knew about early language development: language and knowledge play a critical role in a child's long term literacy success. I wanted books with real photographs, rich language, meaningful topics, and adults who know how to follow their curiosity. I couldn’t find what I was looking for, so I began creating the books I wanted for him.
